Chili with a native flair


Caught this chili's hanging off the side of an art gallery in Scottsdale. I love the deep red color of these chili's and the flavor is great too.

A little color for your day.


I love the colors of the southwest and this tile was a good example of it. I also like the purple in these small flowers.

The cost is too high


People talk about the money spent in this war. Some want to spend more. They should have see this to see what the real cost is. One child, one life, one spirit, isn't that enough to make them want to stop? Thank you to all of you who have stopped by and shared your comments on this important exhibition.

Face of the victims


It was moving to see the shoes but even more when I saw this face.

I wonder


I saw these shoes and though to myself, what the woman who wore these orange shoes was doing when she lost her life during this war.

Oh very young.



I couldn't believe the ages of so many of these soldiers. Some probably never had a true love. That was a thought moved me the most. Everyone should have a true love.

Lori



Lori Piestewa was the first Native American female killed in combat. Some of you may remember a previos picture that I posted showing a mountain preserve that was renamed for Lori after she was killed.

Empty boots


These are the boots worn by Arizona soldiers who have died in the Iraq war.

Eyes Wide Open


Yesterday I went to this exhibit, Eyes Wide Open, the Human Cost of the Irag War. It was put together to honor the soldiers from Arizona and some of the citizens of Iraq. It was quite moving. Over the next week I will be showing some of the photos shot at the exhibit and as you will see there are no people shots, the boots and shoes are empty and I think my photos should be the same. My hopes, that when people will see these, it will inspire them to speak of peace and maybe take some action. Hey I can hope.

Bowing to the sun



I love the colors of this agave. I also like the way it looks as if the leaves are leaning to the sun.

Remember when...


These two guys took a break from riding and were watching the skateboarders for awhile. My quess, they were talking about when they were able to ride skateboards or maybe just skates back in thier day. They seemed pretty amused by the tricks that the boarder were performing.

Reflection

Southwest Fountain


This is one of my favorite fountains in the entire valley. This fountian is in El Dorado park. The same park from a previous photo where the trees were meeting over the water. Happy Monday everyone.

Music in the Red Rocks


Headed to the red rocks of Sedona today for a Willie and Lobo concert. If you haven't heard their music you have to give it a try. Its a great fusion of Electric Violin and Flamenco guitar. You can check out their website at www.willieandlobo.com

These sculptures sit at the corner of a parking lot in Old Town Scottsdale. This is a huge tourist area with alot of great resturants and art galleries.

Neon Library


This was taken from the 5th floor of our main library near downtown. This neon sign hovers right outside the 4th floor which is the Teen Library.

Does this jacket make me look fat?


Say hi to Malee. She will be spending the next three weeks at work with us while her owners are traveling abroad. This is one of her power dog business jackets. We are all looking foward to see what tomorrows outfit will be.

Bowing over the creek


I saw these trees over a creek and it made me think of two oriental men bowing to each other in respect of one another.

Let the commute begin


Happy Monday everyone! This city is horrible when it comes to mass transit. We do have a commuter train going in that will be running at the end of 2008. I guess I wil have to come back for a visit just to see what its like.

More downtown



Not sure on the history of the old building in this photo. Behind it is the US Bank building.

I love the reflection of the clouds and the other building in the glass of the Chase bank building.

Palm Trees+Desert=Heat right?


Not the last few days. It has been pretty cold here lately. Still the palm tree lined street somehow made me think of warmer days.
