Welcome!

The owners of this house just wanted the color to blend into the landscape. This cactus had other ideas.

I love the towns "No littering" signs. You have to give them credit for creativity.

Thursday, September 28, 2006

Look behind the bush.

I stopped to take a picture of this sign not knowing that on the other side of the road someone was watching to make sure he could cross safely.

If your going to buy some horses you had better buy the cowboys to go with them. There is no telling what you will see in these parts of town. Well I guess its no more stranger than the people who have a Statue of Liberty in their front yard. At least the cowboys fit in here in the Southwest.

A horse for your yard or garden? For horse lovers who are not able to have the real thing or for those lovers how just want people to know how much they love horses. These can be bought at a local store here in Cave Creek. If your in the mood to redesign your home and want that Southwest look this is a great town to shop in.

Ever ask yourself, "I wonder what a desert elevator looks like?" Well now you can say that you've seen one, ha ha. It's Monday, one day down four more to go before the weekend.

If you click on the photo and take a closer look at the Saguaro cactus its arms almost have a welcoming gesture to them.

On the northern edge of the city is a town called Cave Creek. It has this great recreation area where people can ride bikes, horses and hike. It is a nice escape from the city and it is not far away. There are also some really good places to eat and shop. We spent a good part of the day yesterday doing just that and ending with a great hike. Over the next week my photos will focus on this part of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

The Eye Lounge, I thought it was a great name for an art space. They have alot of really interesting exhibits here from sculpture to photography. In the main room they usually have some sort of Installation piece in the middle of the room.

One of the smaller galleries in the downtown area.

Thursday, September 21, 2006

Another view of some of the buildings in the downtown area.

Grandmothers for PEACE. This group was out the other night at a gallery opening. There were others handing out flyers while this grandmother stood near the screen. People were honking and appluading these wonderful women as they went by. You Go Granny!

This wall is dedicated to City workers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The artist Otto Rigan lives in Bisbee and has sculptures all over the world.

Monday, September 18, 2006

An old hotel in the downtown area. There is not much history written about this place but I am sure if these walls could talk there would be some kind of action from the past.

Sunday, September 17, 2006

A different side of downtown Phoenix. Its hard to get around here due to all of the construction for the Light Rail system that will be running by 2008. A little late for a city this size if you ask me.

This is one of the main enterances into the center from downtown. If you click on the photo you will get a better view. Thats my tour of the Arizona Center. Time to go out and take some more photos. Thanks to everyone for their great comments so far. This has turned out to be quite enjoyable.

This is one of the walkways thru the center. Its a nice place to be on the weekends when its peaceful.

This is where some of that water originates that flows through the Arizona Center. In the back round is the Phoenix Hyatt Regency. On the top they have a nice restaurant that makes a 360 degree rotation so that you can see the entire city while your dining. Its really quite beautiful in the evening when the sun is going down and later in the night when you can see the city all lit up.

This water runs through the Arizona Center in the downtown area. The Center has a couple of high rises for corporate businesses and another area that has shopping, resturants and theatres.

A few more flowers but these are out in the desert. With all the rain we got here in Arizona the desert has come alive.

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

Sunflowers at night. Day or night flowers always bring a smile to ones face. I hope you all find somthing that makes you smile today.

This is Tempe Town Lake where the flags were yesterday. This is a man made lake that was made in the bed of the Salt River that is usually dry. When we have heavy rains they can open the lake so that the river can flow thru. There are always festivals and charity walks of events in the park.

Monday, September 11, 2006

These flags were set up at Tempe Town Lake as part of a 9/11 memorial. The "Healing Field" was set up this weekend for people to come and pay their respects.

Now this kind is great to eat. You can scramble it with eggs or some people make it with Red chili. Of course your going to want to scrape the thorns off first.

Since I posted a dead cactus yesterday I thought I would post a few that were alive today. One good thing about the heat in Arizona, it makes the cactus show off their blooms.

Saturday, September 09, 2006

Dead cactus here in Arizona never die. They continue to live on as outdoor decor in our parks and in homes around the valley.

Friday, September 08, 2006

One of the old boxing gyms downtown. Like most buildings like this one it is probably scheduled to be torn down to make room for something new.

Thursday, September 07, 2006

This is an artists home near downtown Phoenix. As you can see its a sculptures home by the unsual pieces in his front yard.

Clouds over the mountains near the Gila River Indian Reservation.

The San Pedro River. This river enters Arizona from Sonora Mexico and flows north through two mountain ranges and joins the Gila river 100 miles down stream. When there is little rain its funny to drive thru this area. You see brown desert with a line of green trees along the river.

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Walking around town today I notice that these vines were everywhere. I am not botanical saavy so I can't tell you what they are but I thought they were beautiful. Tomorrow I will post some photos from the road back to Phoenix.

Last night we had a great rain that kept slowing down and then rush in with a nice down pour. This morning looking out my window I saw the water that was caught on this screen and thought it would make a nice photo.

Monday, September 04, 2006

Yesterday they held the 41st Annual Brewery Gulch Days here in Bisbee. One of the first events was a pet parade and here we have a kitty who was ready for a good game of football.

Sunday, September 03, 2006

The clouds hovering over the mountain after a morning rain. It has been raining off and on today but it is a welcome change to the heat in Phoenix. This photo was taked from the second story window at our home.

Saturday, September 02, 2006

Hello all, I failed to tell everyone that I would be posting pictures of Bisbee and Southern Arizona scenery from today thru Tuesday. We decided to come down to our home in Bisbee for the holiday weekend. This photo is a veiw of town from one of the mountain behind our home. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

An old metal door on an industrial building that is also close to the homeless shelters downtown.
