Under the 7th Avenue bridge. At night you will see quite of few homeless people sleeping under this bridge. The shelters are close by but get filled very quickly when the temperatures are high.

A veiw of the top of the peak. It was 109 degrees the day I shot this and there were people climbing up to the top.

A veiw of the city from the road leading up to the park.

A view of Central and Downtown Phoenix from the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. The preserve is home to a popular hiking trail. Once you reach the top your reward is a great view of the valley. The trail winds up a mountain that was previously called Squaw Peak, the name was changed to Peistewa Peak in honor of Lori Peistewa the first woman killed in the Iraq war.

Another view of Good Samaritan. Would have shot more but there was construction everywhere.

By request here is a picture of Good Samaritan Hospital. To some it just a hospital, others have called it a "Spaceship" in the middle of the city. I have lost someone very special to me there once and never looked back. But with this request I did look a second time and found, a beautiful piece of architecture. Thank you for opening my eyes again.

Catching the last bit of light on the way home to Phoenix.

A drive by photo of downtown Tucson on the way home from Bisbee.

Clouds over "B" mountain.

The Saturday morning farmers market. You can buy food, flowers or jewelery and maybe even adopt a kitten or two from the local animal rescue. The air was full of the smell of roasted green chili from various growers in the area.

Kids playing in the water at the local farmers market on Saturday morning.

Down in my second home in Bisbee for the weekend. This is from shot is from the landing after the first flight of stairs. There are 68 stairs on the way up to our home. Its quite a climb when your moving furniture. What was I thinking you may ask. Look at the view.

Still in route, looking forward to the rain.

Clouds over Interstate 10 on the way to Tucson.

Guardians at the gate. This is a gated entrance to one of the homes in Bisbee. I am on my way down for the weekend so I thought I would post a photo from there today.

Shot this on the way to work. A small part of Chase field ballpark. This is where Arizona Diamondbacks play ball. Its nice when we have cooler weather they will open the roof and the large windows (the ones with the baseball player painted on it).

Just a close up of the statue.

"El Pasaje" (The Passage). This statue was placed at the state capital to honor all of Miners from history and present day workers who have lost their life while on the job.

Others didn't have to much luck with their umbrellas (blue and white).

Some people were actually prepared this morning.

We got rain this morning! One thing about Phoenicians; they are crazy drivers when it rains. Commutes to work can take two to three times longer. Lord help us if we get fog.

Monday, August 21, 2006

Here is the state capital building here in Phoenix with its Copper dome.

Now to see this you have to climb to the top of one of the surrounding mountains in Bisbee.

This is what I love about living in Bisbee, you never know what your going to see there.

Bisbee at dusk facing southeast. Our house sits on the mountain with the "B" on it. It is our weekend getaway from our busy city life. This is my favorite time of day to walk to the Mimosa Market to pick up some OK Ale and an ice cream for the walk home.

Bisbee Az at dusk facing northwest. If you have never been and are planning a trip to Tucson or Phoenix you have to make time to run down south to visit this great little town.

This is a picture of Bisbee Arizona, its a great little artist community approximately 3 hours south of Phoenix. We live in Phoenix but we also have a home in Bisbee. If you would like to see even more pictures of Bisbee check out Bisbee Daily Photo and check back here from time to time.

These kittens won't settle for anything less than Fancy Feast and diamond collars.

Just a bunch of Street Kittens. This is a picture of my co-workers all dressed up for Bowl-a-rama. This is one of the fund raisers that all of the animal organizations in Phoenix participate in every year to raise funds for their organization. We all work for the Arizona Animal Welfare League which is Arizona's largest no-kill animal shelter. Our founder was Amanda Blake who played Miss Kitty on the show Gunsmoke which aired from 1955-1975.

Left work early to beat rush hour; obviously not early enough.

The light at the end of the day kissing the trees at the edge of the Grand Canyon.

Sunset at one of the best places in the state, the Grand Canyon.

Wednesday, August 16, 2006

There is nothing like the smell of the desert after a rain.

Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Downtown Blue Lady. This mural was painted behind an old apartment building near downtown. The 24 yr old artist is one of the best spray paint muralist in the nation. He is currently traveling in Europe painting murals.

This tunnel is on HWY 60 on the way to Miami and Globe Arizona. Miami and Globe are mining towns that are known for their antiques. Globe is also home to the Sleeping Beauty mine, which produces Sleeping Beauty Turquoise that is sold world wide.

In on time.
Getting in just under the wire before a storm hits town.

This is Page's older sister Payson. Both of my cats are named after towns here in Arizona. The town of Payson northeast of Phoenix and has great hiking trails and some really nice lakes and camping areas. Page is up in the northern part of the state, Page is close to Lake Powell which is a great lake to explore on a houseboat.

Today I have no picture of the city but of my girls. This is Page, she is every bit of the word "Attitude". She actually has the run of the household even more than her older sister.

Blue on blue, the Chase Bank building in downtown Phoenix.

Geese taking a stroll in the park.

This is one of our native trees the "Palo Verde" which translates to Green Stick. You cant see it too close but the tree is entirely green and has small yellow flowers in the spring.

These hills are in another part of the park. Early morning or before sunset people can be seen climbing, hiking and biking in the area. Its a great place to climb and watch the sunrise over the east valley.

Another view of Hole in the Rock. When its not hot outside the hole in the rock is usually full of people who climb the rock to get a view of the city.

This photo was taken at Papago park, home of the Phoenix Zoo,the Desert Botanical Gardens and Hole in the Rock (in the backround). There are hiking trails as well as bike paths through out the park. The park sits on the border of Phoenix and Scottsdale Arizona.

Close to home I noticed the clouds over this sculpture. When I was little I believed that angels were in the light that would come thru the clouds and down to earth. Oh the imagination of children.

Clouds above a church on the way home.
